FREE Virtual Q&A/Information session to learn about our Foundations of Post-Traumatic Growth Somatic Therapy Certification and Training and to meet Ruby Jo Walker! We will meet via Zoom on Friday, January 31, 12pm-1pm (MST/AZ Time).
Love Life Therapy Center is again hosting another comprehensive Foundations of Post-Traumatic Growth Somatic Therapy Certification and Training program in Tucson, Arizona. We had such transformational and profound experiences learning from Ruby Jo Walker, both personally and professionally at the beginning of 2024, that we are bringing her back in February/March of 2025!
In this trauma-informed series, participants will deeply explore Post-Traumatic Growth from a nervous system and developmental wounding lens, using a somatic approach. This training will incorporate the newest neurobiological perspectives that facilitate embodied personal growth and resiliency. This training has a true non-pathologizing approach to trauma, recognizing that all trauma adaptations and presentations are connected to neurobiology and experiences — and based on our humanness.
If you have any interest in learning more about how your practice may be enhanced by this training/certification opportunity, please join our FREE Virtual Q&A Information session on Friday, January 31, 12pm-1pm (MST/AZ Time). We will also have one or more past participants attending to talk about our experiences and answer any questions as well.
About Ruby Jo Walker
Ruby Jo Walker, LCSW, is an author, experienced trauma therapist, and trainer sought for her expertise in Polyvagal Theory —specializing in the neurobiology of trauma and resilience. She is the founder of SW Trauma Training Services where she developed Post-Traumatic Growth Somatic Therapy, a unique combination of advanced somatic therapy practices rooted in neurobiology, resilience, trauma healing, and attachment theory, using applied Polyvagal Theory. Additionally, she is certified in Somatic Experiencing and Hakomi Mindfulness Therapy.
Her experience in the field of trauma spans over 30 years of training a wide range of professionals from various disciplines in Polyvagal-informed trauma protocols. Her work continues to impact psychotherapists, healthcare providers, trauma support agencies, behavioral health service groups, human service agencies, and attendees at Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence conferences. She has facilitated hundreds of trainings, providing expert guidance to help individuals and organizations better understand and address the impact and treatment of trauma for improved client outcomes and effectiveness in their work. She has a passion for supporting professionals and clients incorporating an understanding of neurobiology to bring about deep change and transformation.
Committed to her community, Ruby Jo served in a leadership role on a statewide task force that developed supportive resources for healthcare workers in Colorado during the 2020 pandemic. She is a contributing author of a Norton Press book, Somatic-Oriented Therapies: Embodiment, Trauma, and Polyvagal Perspectives edited by Herbert Grassmann, Maurizio Stupiggia, and Stephen W. Porges PhD, available February 4, 2025. In collaboration with Norton Press, Ruby Jo will publish her first book focusing on Applied Polyvagal Theory to Trauma Treatment in late 2025/early 2026.
ADVANCED PTG TRAINING
Tucson, AZ
The main focus of the training will be advanced work with applied Polyvagal Theory. This includes deeper work with freeze states, advanced motor plans, fawning and appeasement, restoration of boundaries and neuroception, deeper shame work, as well as self-reflective work on tendencies that can limit practitioners' skills. It will also include supervised practice by Ruby Jo Walker, to include specific feedback on your next growth edge. We are finding that this combination is what is taking practitioners' growth further.

BEYOND FIGHT, FLIGHT, FREEZE:
THE NEUROBIOLOGY OF FAWNING AND APPEASEMENT
Tucson, AZ
January 24, 2025
6 hours, CEUs available
9:30am - 5:00pm (1.5 hour lunch)
While the trauma-response term of flight-flight-freeze has been readily recognized in both professional and layperson circles, the concept of fawning and appeasement are being seen as adaptive trauma responses also. This training will explain how fawning and appeasement are connected to biological drives to stay safe; both biological adaptations come from being in a down-power position that will often inhibits the healing process. The training will describe the neurobiology of both these trauma adaptations and strategies on how to identify and support new options to move a client from victim to survivor. Supporting victims/survivors effectively with a deeper understanding of these adaptations is critical as it empowers and restores agency. This information is cutting-edge and mini-workshops of this topic have been presented at National Trauma Training Conferences for victim service providers.
